The noble spirit of Immortal Ekushey works as a great inspiration for the leaders and workers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to take part in struggles for restoration of democracy and people's rights, said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday (Feb 21).

He made the remarks while talking to reporters after paying homage to the language martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital in the morning.

Rizvi said: "The spirit of Ekushey inspires us. It inspires us to move forward. We got the feeling of nationalism first through the spirit of Ekushey in 1952. The main objective of the spirit of Ekushey is to ensure the rights of people, which led to achieve an independent and sovereign Bangladesh in 1971."
