BNP leader Mirza Abbas secures bail in vandalism case

A court in Dhaka has granted bail to BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas in a case of vandalism with the Ramna Model police station in the capital.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sultan Sohag Uddin ordered his bail on a bond of Tk10,000 on Sunday afternoon.

Abbas could release from prison only if he gets bail in other cases of sabotage, said Mohiuddin Chowdhury, the lawyer for the accused.

Detective branch police arrested Mirza Abbas from Shahidbag in the capital in a case of sabotage on the night of October 31, 2023.

He was taken to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka from jail and shown arrested in four cases at Ramna Model Police Station on February 1.
