The five Myanmar nationals, who at the jetty of the Shapuree Dwip in Teknaf from Myanmar on Saturday, were sent back by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Sunday morning.

Of the five Myanmar nationals, a woman was with bullet injuries.

Abdus Salam, UP member of ward no 9 of Shapuree Dwip, said a boat with the five Myanmar nationals crossed the Naf River at 5pm on Saturday and arrived at Shah Pori's Island jetty.

The woman was identified as Safura Khatun, wife of Hafez Ahmad Ullah from the Nalbanya area of Myanmar. They came to Bangladesh as Hafez's elder sister Ramzan Begum, who resides in the Jadimora Shalbagan Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf.

Abdus Salam said the sound of gunfire was heard on the other side of the Naf River at around 10am on Sunday.

He said fear gripped the residents of Shapuree Dwip in Teknaf on Saturday as intermittent explosions were heard due to the clashes and firing between the insurgent group and the armed forces in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

BGB and Coast Guard members, however, have strengthened the patrolling in Naf River area to prevent any more infiltration from the other side of the border.
