Month-long Ctg Intl Trade Fair begins Thursday

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 12: The month-long 31st Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) begins on Thursday (February 15) at the Railway Polo Ground at Tigerpass, Chattogram.

Apart from this, the two-day-long 5th Chattogram IT Fair will begin at the World Trade Center on February 18 (Sunday).

Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel will attend the inauguration ceremony of CITF as the chief guest and State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu will inaugurate the fair.

MA Latif MP, Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry will be the special guest and FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry) President Mahbubul Alam will be present as guest of honour on the inauguration ceremony.

Chittagong Chamber President Omar Hazzaz gave announced these programmes at a press conference at Bangabandhu Conference Hall of the World Trade Center at Agrabad on Monday.

He said, this time, businesses and companies will participate at the fair setting up 16 premier pavilions, 56 premier stalls, 94 gold stalls, 48 mega stalls, 11 food stalls, 400 stalls in 3 zones will participate in the 4 lakh square feet CITF.

Entrepreneurs and businessmen from India, Thailand, Iran will display their products. The fair will run from 10 am to 10 pm and Ticket price is Tk 20 per person.

Since 1993, the centenary trade organization Chittagong Chamber has been organizing CITF to promote local products. This time also small and medium entrepreneurs from different regions of the country will display their products. Millions of people will visit this fair and collect their favorite products., he added.

The fair will have a Bangabandhu Pavilion. It will have the autobiography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, books and publications about the Liberation War with the help of the Batighor.

In response to a question Omar Hazzaz said, The chamber has been demanding every year for the construction of an international standard expo center. There are proposals to set up expo centers at several places including Jungle Salimpur.

CITF Co-Chairman Ahid Siraj Chowdhury Swapan, Anjan Shekhar Dash, Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir, PHP Director Aktar Parvez Hiru, Society of Chittagong IT Professionals Abdullah Farid and others were present in the press conference.
