A two-day long international conference on Global Assembly on Future Education began on Sunday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU).

The theme of this conference is Building Smart Global Education Communities: International Collaboration for Sustainability in Education.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof A S M Maksud Kamal inaugurated the conference as chief guest.

Global Educators Initiative for Sustainable Transformation (GEIST) has organized this event in cooperation with ICT Division and UNDP, said a press release on Sunday issued by Mahmood Alam, Director of DU Public Relations Office.

Maksud Kamal stressed the need for preparing the new generation as global citizen with the combination of knowledge, wisdom and skills. He said that a new curriculum has already been introduced in primary and secondary level to produce skilled human resources in the country.

"This international conference will create a common platform to exchange views regarding education systems of different countries around the world and students and teachers of our country will be highly benefited from this," the VC hoped.

UNESCO Representative to Bangladesh Susan Vize, Founder President of GEIST Biblob Kumar Deb, President of GEIST Global Sabyasachi Mazumdar and Vice President Baman Kumar Ghimire addressed the inaugural session.

Experts from eight countries including Bangladesh, India, USA, Germany and Sweden participated in the conference.
