AL postpones Tuesday’s ‘peace rally’ at Tejgaon

The Dhaka North city unit Awami League (AL) has postponed its peace rally scheduled for Tuesday (January 30) at Tejgaon in the capital due to unavoidable reasons.

A press release, issued by the AL unit's office secretary Praloy Samaddar Bappi, on Tuesday, said the programmes had been suspended for unavoidable reasons and it would announce future events later.

"Due to unavoidable reasons, the peace rally and procession of Dhaka north city Awami League scheduled for January 30 has been postponed as per the order of its president and general secretary. Further schedule will be announced in detail later," the release reads.

The BNP had announced that it would hold a nationwide black flag march on Tuesday (January 30) in all cities, districts and upazilas to demand the dissolution of the “illegal dummy” parliament and an election under a non-partisan neutral government.
On January 27, during a rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced countrywide rallies for January 30.
