The ruling Awami League will also hold rallies countrywide on January 30 to counter the BNPs black-flag procession on the same day termed as peace and development rallies in all cities, districts and upazilas, thanas including Dhaka.

While addressing an AL rally in front of the partys headquarters in the capitals Gulistan, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the new programme.

The Dhaka South City unit of AL organized the peace and development rally with its President Abu Ahmed Monnafi in the chair. Local unit General Secretary Humayun Kabir moderated the event.

Obaidul Quader said, "We will be on guard. No evil force will be spared. We will give a fitting reply to all the conspiracies. We will also hold peace and development rallies in all cities, districts and upazilas, thanas including Dhaka on January 30."

The first session of the newly elected 12th National Parliament would commence on the day. The last parliament was elected on January 7 this year.

Some of the countrys opposition parties including BNP had  boycotted the election demanding formation of a caretaker government and holding the national election after resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Quader said, the AL leaders and activists will hold the peace and development rallies across the country with red-green flags in hands. "You hold the rally with red-green flags in hands and tell the people about peace and development."

In the meeting, the AL General Secretary termed the BNPs black-flag rally as mourning rally.

"BNPs January 30s black-flag rally is bogus, BNP is also bogus. Their leaders and activists are frustrated as they don have peoples support. Because, they don have confidence on London-based Tarique Zia. People are not with those, who are bogus. The game of election is over and now the game of politics would now be played," the Road Transport and Bridges Minister claimed.

Mentioning the name of BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Roy, the AL General Secretary said, "Gayeshwar babu has been present at Paltan today. Where were you Gayeshwar babu? You told that we will not find way. But, who has fled away?"

Among others, AL Presidium Members Dr Abdur Razzaque, Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, and Qamrul Islam, Joint General Secretaries Dr. Hasan Mahmud and Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif and Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque also spoke at the rally.
