Mohammad Javed Omar Belim, a former captain of Bangladesh national cricket team in both Tests and ODI formats, had inaugurated a Franchise Cricket Tournament for the 1998 SSC and 2000 HSC Batch at the Banani Club in Dhaka recently.
Javed Omar, who was known in the early days of his career by the nickname Gullu, played a total of 40 Test matches and 59 ODI matches.
The organisers invited the former opening batsman of the national team to unveil the trophy of the third edition of the cricket tournament and add colour to their arrangement.
The tournament is beginning on the second of February while the final is set to be played on nine February. The matches will be played at different venues including the Historic Paltan Ground, BUET Ground, Dhaka University venues and the Cricket Ground at the Uttara sector-15.
A total of 16 teams from different parts of the country will be playing there. The tournament will be held in the round robin league system. Two top teams having highest points will engage in the final. Each match will be of 12 overs.
