Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Saturday inaugurated a new 30-beded ICU unit at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Dr Samanta Lal Sen passed MBBS from Chattogram Medical College in 1973. He was very excited as his name was involved in such a work.
CMCH had only 20 beds in the unit for the last 63 years since its establishment. Now the number of the bed has stood at 50 as 30 beds have opened this year.

The minister said, I feel privileged to inaugurate it as a student of the medical college. We hope that this unit will play a role in saving the lives of patients with dementia.

The Health Minister visited the designated site for the 150-bed Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit to be set up at the hospital.

During the inaguaration, health minister said that the issue of the hospital's burn unit will be raised in the pre-open meeting on Sunday (January 28).

After that, the work of the 150-bed burn unit will start soon after the DPP is passed. Burnt patients in Chattogram will get better treatment if there is a full-fledged burn unit. The burn unit will have state-of-the-art ICU, HDU and OT facilities, he added.
