NATORE, Jan 23: State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology M Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated an eye unit at Singra Diabetic Hospital in Singra Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The opening function was organized in the hallroom of the hospital, with Moulana Ruhul Amin, general secretary of Singra Diabetic Samity in the chair. The minister attended it as the chief guest.
Palak said, the health service for people was the biggest problem in the upazila in the past; there were adequate doctors in Upazila Health Complex having not treatment for complicated diseases and surgery arrangement; the hospital had only one ambulance for emergency service; patients of complex diseases had to go to Natore Sadar Hospital or Rajshahi Hospital for treatment; which was very expensive and time loss for the patients.
He further said, he had been elected MP for Singra people in the year 2008 in the first term. At that time he took step to build a diabetic hospital for the neglected people of Singra Upazila. But today it has become a good treatment centre with modern facilities, he added.
He further said, Singra Health Complex will be promoted to 100-bed one. A special hospital will be built for mother and children very soon, the Minister maintained.
Among others. Professor Dr Ashraful Islam, ex-principal of Rajshahi College and Dr Almas, health and family planning officer of Singra Upazila were present at the function.
