The leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami brought out protest processions in different areas of the capital on Friday morning, calling countrymen to boycott the elections to be held on Sunday.
The processions began from the 60-feet area and after marching various streets ended with a short rally at the Barek Molla intersection.
Besides, Jamaat-e-Islami organised protest marches in Pallabi, Mirpur, Farmgate and Gulshan areas of the capital.
Mahfuzur Rahman, a Shura member of Jamaat-e-Islami's Central Majlis and assistant secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North, at the rally said that they are boycotting the AL's rigged and farce elections and urged the countrymen to boycott the polls.
He also called for an immediate end to the farce in the name of election, resignation of the government and handover of power to a caretaker government without tampering with the people's right to vote.
Shura member of Central Majlis and Assistant Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Nazimuddin Molla, Shura members of Dhaka Metropolitan Majlis Qutub Uddin, Saiful Quader, Abu Hanif, Mahanagari Shibir President Asaduzzaman were present, among others on the processions.
