Earlier on Sunday night, miscreants set fire to another election camp of 'wrist-watch' symbol at Khojakhali under the same upazila. At that time, a shop of fertiliser and pesticide near the camp was gutted by the fire.
Witnesses said they witnessed fire at the Syed Muhammad Ibrahim's election camp of 'wrist-watch' symbol at about 4:00am on Tuesday. At that time, the camp's guard Abu Salek was rescued from a nearby election camp. The election camp's chairs, table, posters and pandal's cloth were gutted by the fire.
Injured Abu Salek said some 10-20 miscreants started vandalising the camp after coming at about 4:00am. "At that time, the miscreants punched on my face and then tied my hands with a rope from behind. Then they abandoned me at a nearby vegetables field. Later, police and locals came here and admitted me to hospital rescuing from the vegetables field," he said.
Kalyan Party chairman Syed Muhammad Ibrahim said, "Being jealous of my popularity, miscreants vandalised and set my election camp on fire. People want change of this situation. So, they decided to put seals on wrist-watch symbol. Political violence doesn't bring any benefit. I strongly oppose such violence."
