National Expatriates Day Observed In Districts 

Thrust on protecting expatriates’ welfare

The National Expatriates Day was observed on Saturday across the country with a vow to protecting dignity and welfare of expatiates.  

This years theme of the Day is - "Probashir Kalyan, Morzada- Amader Ongikar, Smart Bangladesh Goray Tarao Soman Ongshidar."

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Narayanganj, Netrakona and Panchagarh.

NARAYANGANJ: In this connection, the district administration organized different programmes in the city.

A rally was brought out from the deputy commissioners (DC) office premises in the morning, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the city.

Then, a service and information booth for the expatriates was inaugurated there.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the DC office conference room in the city.

Narayanganj DC Md Mahmudul Haque presided over the meeting.

Additional DC (ADC) (Development and Human Resources Management) Shafia Akhter Shimu, ADC (Education and ICT) Md Nurunnabi, ADC (General) Sakib Al Rabbi, Assistant Superintend of Police Mahfuzar Rahman, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate (Expatriates Welfare Branch) Md Tamzid Iram Khan, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Md Jamal Hossain, District Sports Officer Hira Akhter and Senior Officer of Probashi Kalyan Bank Monwar Ahmed, among others, were also present at the programme.
 
NETRAKONA: To mark the Day, the district administration and District Technical Training Centre jointly organized different programme in the town.

A rally was brought out in the morning, which ended on the District Technical Training Centre premises after parading the main streets of the town.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held there.

ADC Rafiquzzaman was present as the chief guest while Principal of Netrakona Technical Training Centre Engineer Gias Uddin Ahmed presided over the meeting.

The programme was moderated by Trainer Sadrul Karim.

Assistant Director (AD) of District Employment Office Lehaz Uddin, AD of Manpower Employment Bureau Abul Kalam Azad, Manager of Kendua Branch of Agrani Bank Shahid Nur Chowdhury and Expatriate Emdadul Haque, among others, were also present at that time.   

After the discussion, Expatriates Emdadul Haque and Farzana Akhter were given a reception for earning maximum remittance in the district this year.
 
PANCHAGARH: The National Expatriates Day was observed in the district for the first time.
 
On this occasion, the district administration and District Manpower and Employment office brought out a rally from the Collectorate Office premises in the morning. The rally ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held in the DC office conference room in the town.

ADC Md Riazuddin presided over the meeting.

In his speech he said, "The government and the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment are working to ensure safe, regular and legal immigration. Expats have been working for us for a long time. They also played a strong role during the war of independence. The countrys economy is running on the remittances sent by these expatriates. The government wants them to be more involved in the development of this country. According to the proposal of the Expatriate Welfare Ministry, the government has decided to celebrate this Day on December 30 every year to honour our 12 million expatriates in different countries of the world."

Additional Superintendent of Police Md Amirullah, District Technical Training Centre Principal Abdul Halim, Civil Surgeon Offices Medical Officer Sharif Afzal Hossain, and District Employment Office Survey Officer Manjurul Haque, among others, also spoke at the programme.
