Elderly man killed in clash over land dispute

An elderly man was killed in a clash between two neighbours over land dispute in Barishal city on Thursday night.

The incident took place at around 8pm in Gabtola area under Ward no-23 in the city.
The deceased was identified as Sejan Ali, 75, a resident of the aforesaid area.

According to the deceased's family members, there had been a longstanding dispute between two neighbours-- Shaon Sarder and Sajal Sarder-- over a piece of a land. As sequel to it, they locked into a fight around 8pm on Thursday. At that time, when Sejan went there to depress them, one of them kicked him, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Barishal Kotwali Model Police Station officer-in-charge Arisul Haque said being informed, police detained Shaon and Sajal for primary questioning and legal action would be taken after investigation.
