Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of, Ansar al-Islam, the banned terrorist organisation, from Batiaghata upazila in Khulna district early Friday.
The arrested were Elyas Das Abdullah alias Huzaifa Usama, 27, hailed from Thakurgaon, Sabbirul Islam Sabbir alias Abu Sabbir Al Bangali, 20, hailed from Pabna, and Shamim Laskar, 19, hailed from Gopalganj.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the elite force and its detective branch conducted a drive in Sachibunia railway crossing area around 1:30 am and arrested the trio while a gang of the organisation was holding a secret meeting, said Tarek Aman Banna, spokesperson of RAB-6.
At that time, some three or four unidentified people managed to flee the scene.
He said different types of books on extremism, leaflets, and mobile phone sets were seized from their possessions.
Legal steps against them are under process in this regard, the RAB official added.
