
Abu Bakar Siddique, a Bangla Academy Literary Award-winning poet and writer, died at age 91 due to complications from old age on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Khulna City Medical College Hospital in Khulna.
He is survived by one son and five daughters. His daughter Bidisha Ershad was the wife of late president Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
The eminent poet and writer had been suffering from various old age-related complications for a long time. He was also a fiction writer, rhymer, novelist, short story author and critic.
Siddique was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening, December 27. He had been living in his younger sisters house in the Munsipara area of the city for a long time.
