Foreign Minister Dr Abdul Momen has said that it was not right to publish in the mass media the Foreign Ministry's letter sent to the United Nations.
"Those who have published it, they have worked as the enemies of the country," he told newsmen while attending a function in Sylhet on Friday evening.
The Foreign Minister said such letters are sent every year after visiting the UN. "It's completely personal...It is not understood how it has been published in the mass media."
When his attention was drawn to the possible sanctions on the ready-made garment sector, the Foreign Minister said it is fabricated. "I have no such information. Some misguided people are trying to create panic by saying these to foil the next election."
Regarding the letter sent to the UN, Momen said, "We went to the UN back in September. At that time we met many people there. We have a tradition to send a thank letter to those who we talk or meet. The same thing also happened this time. Apart from thanking the UN, we also mentioned about the things we had discussed. It was an absolutely personal matter. But, a newspaper has unnecessarily has published it. It a matter of great shame. I don't know how it has happened. There are some people in our country who behave like enemies. They do this to receive blessings. But, it should not have happened. It is very unfortunately."
