Eighteen candidates for the recruitment test of assistant teacher in government primary school were arrested for cheating during the examination in Dinajpur on Friday.
In addition, a total of 16 electronic devices used for communication during the examination were seized from them.
Nazrul Islam, Dinajpur district primary education officer, confirmed the matter.
He said the examinees were suspended for adopting unfair means- essentially cheating. Among them, sixteen were arrested for using electronic devices and two for acting as the proxy.
Legal actions against the accused were taken in this regard, the officer added.
The first phase of the recruitment test for assistant teacher posts at government primary schools was held in Rangpur, Sylhet, and Barishal divisions.
