A 54-year-old woman was killed when a police microbus carrying an accused hit her on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Mirsarai upazila in
Chattogram district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Firoza Begum, 54, wife of Enamul Haque, a resident of Bhuiyan village under Ichhakhali union of the upazila.
Witnesses said the
accident happened around noon when the speeding microbus knocked her down while crossing the highway in Thakurdighi area, leaving her critically injured.
The woman, who was going to Upazila Health Complex for treatment, succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital, they said.
Sohel Sarkar, in-charge of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, said that the body was brought to the police station and it would be handed over to the family after completing legal procedures.
