Three buses were set on fire by arsonists at Maniknagar area in the capital on Wednesday afternoon, during the 48-hours road-rail-waterway blockade across the country enforced by BNP and like-minded parties.

Miscreants set the fire on three stationary buses of Ekushe Express Paribahan at around 4.48pm at Maniknagar Intersection area in the capital, said an eyewitness of the incident, Uttam Chowdhury.

Two buses were completely damaged in the fire while one bus suffered partial damage, he said.
Being informed by locals, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze at around 5.26pm, said Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

However, no casualties were reported in this incident, she added.

Earlier, a BRTC staff bus of Agrani Bank was set on fire in the capital's Khilgaon area.
