The train service on Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route was delayed by a half hour after it was found that miscreants have removed some nuts and bolts from rail line in Ramu upazila early Saturday.
Cox's Bazar Station Master Golam Rabbani said the incident occurred in the Kahatiapara area of Rashid Nagar union in Ramu upazila, on the second day of the Cox's Bazar-Dhaka railway's commercial launch.
He said that the train left for Dhaka after a half-hour delay due to the repair work of the railway line following this incident.
He said after being informed, authorities including railway engineers visited the spot and construction workers repaired the line by 12:30pm to make it suitable for train communication.
Fahmida Mostafa, UNO of Ramu Upazila and Abu Taher Dewan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar police station, visited the spot.
However, authorities could not immediately determine whether the incident was a simple theft or a sabotage attempt.
The OC said that police are working to identify the accused involved with the incident.
