Man killed as autorickshaw hits roadside tree in Jhalakathi

A man was killed and seven others were injured after a CNG-run autorickshaw lost control and hit a roadside tree on the Barishal-Jhalakathi highway at Nalchity upazila in Jhalakathi district on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Dipankar Samaddar, 55.
According to locals, the accident occurred when the driver of the speeding autorickshaw from Barishal Ruptali area lost control over the steering of the vehicle and hit a roadside tree, leaving Dipankar dead on the spot and seven other passengers critically injured.

The injured were taken to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital for better treatment.

Nalchity Police Station officer-in-charge Md Murad Ali said being informed, police seized the autorickshaw from the spot and legal action is underway in this regard.
