Crowd at the entire stadium went into a funereal silence after the wicket of Virat Kohli fell shockingly in the final match of the World Cup in Ahmedabad.
Kohli departed when India were trying to recover from the early blow with his partnership with KL Rahul at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
Being asked to bat, the men in blue fell under pressure losing three wickets inside 81 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma started well but did not convert his innings long as he departed for 47 playing 31 balls.
After that, India got a 67-run stand between Kohli and Rahul. Kohli went back to the pavilion for 54 runs with a short-of-length delivery by Australian captain Pat Cummins.
Rahul remains unbeaten on 45 from 76 balls as India are on 162/4 after 32 overs.
Pat Cummins took two wickets for Australia while each of Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell got one.
