Samsung has launched a new security tool called Auto Blocker for Samsung Galaxy users. The tool offers additional security measures, including prevention of app installations from unauthorized sources and app security checks to identify malware. It also addresses Zero Click attacks in direct image messages. Auto Blocker provides users with more choice and protection while exploring the customizations enabled by Samsung Galaxy's open ecosystem. The tool is now available on compatible devices with One UI 6.

Samsung has introduced a new Auto Blocker security tool for Samsung Galaxy users. The company claims that the tool is designed to keep the Samsung Galaxy devices protected.
What is Auto Blocker

The Samsung Auto Blocker is an opt-in package of additional security measures that gives users more choice as they explore the customizations enabled by Samsung
Galaxy's open ecosystem.

Features of Auto Blocker

One of Auto Blocker’s features is the prevention of app installations from unauthorized sources, known as sideloading. There are many benefits to intentional sideloading, such as enhanced customization and control over a device’s functionality. Those who love to safely sideload will experience no change as the feature is off by default. For those not in the habit of sideloading or extensive customization, activating Auto Blocker can provide additional peace of mind by stalling the rise of social engineering attacks like voice phishing, where attackers could talk users into installing malicious software.

The Auto Blocker offers various supplementary features, such as enabling app security checks to identify possible malware and thwart the execution of malicious commands and software installations via a USB cable. This functionality serves as a safeguard for users in scenarios where their device is physically accessible to others, such as when charging a phone at an airport.

This feature update also includes enhancements to Message Guard, addressing Zero Click attacks where malicious code is concealed within direct image messages. Auto Blocker is available now on Samsung Galaxy devices compatible with One UI 6.

Availability

Auto Blocker and the updated Message Guard are available on Samsung Galaxy devices that run the latest One UI release, version 6.

For now, only the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra have received the update, but the following devices are listed as eligible and should receive One UI 6 soon:

    --Galaxy S21 series and later
--Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 and later
    --Galaxy A04s, A13, A23, A33, A52, and A72 and later
    --Galaxy M23, M33, and M53 and later
    --Galaxy F14, F23, and F54
    --Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro
    --Galaxy Tab S8 and later

Users of compatible devices can activate the protection feature through Settings > Security and Privacy> Auto Blocker.

Users needing strong security on their mobile devices shouldn't solely rely on built-in protection features but also use a third-party mobile security solution from a trustworthy vendor.
