An elderly woman was killed allegedly by her daughters-in-law at Gournadi upazila in Barishal district on Monday night.
Herona Begum, 63, who hailed from village Char Diashur under the upazila, was found hanging in a bathroom.
Police detained daughters-in-law Rakhi Begum, Tuli Begum, son Sumon Pyada and husband Haider Pyada, in the incident.
The victim's brother Monir Hossain alleged that the woman's Saudi Arabian expatriate son's wife Rakhi Begum, younger son Sumon Pyada, wife Tuli Begum often tortured her over family feud. The daughters-in-law beat my sister five days ago, he added.
On Monday night, Herona's daughters went to her home to visit her. Following this, the victim's son, son's wife, and another daughter in-law locked into a quarrel with the woman. At one point, the alleged persons beat Herona Begum to death and hung her body in a bathroom, the victim's brother alleged.
Barishal Police additional police super (Gournadi Circle) Sharmin Sultana Rakhi said the body was recovered. Legal action is under process in this regard.
