The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) recovered three gold bars, worth around Tk1.5 crore, in an abandoned luggage at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Saturday.

CIID Additional Director General Bashir Ahmed said they detected the gold bars while scanning the unclaimed luggage. Three gold bars, weighing 1.8kg, were concealed in a rice cooker inside the luggage.

Earlier on Friday morning, the customs intelligence detained Mohammad Ali, a passenger of Air Arabia flight, who was found carrying gold weighing 1.8kg concealed in a rice cooker in a similar manner.
The Omani passenger might have found out about the incident from that morning and left the airport, leaving his luggage behind, said CIID Assistant Director Abdul Matin.
