Cumilla city's Ward No. 22 Chhatra League joint convener Mehedi Hasan has been arrested by police with yaba and marijuana.
He was sent to jail custody through court on Saturday afternoon.
Cumilla Sadar South Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed it.
Police said 27-year-old Mehedi Hasan was arrested from an area adjacent to Sonali Bank Ltd at Sree Ballavpur area under the Ward No. 22 of Cumilla city on Friday night. During the arrest, police seized 6,200 yaba pills, 2 kilograms of marijuana and tools for taking drugs.
Besides, cash Tk 24,600, two passports and a motorcycle used for selling drugs were seized from Mehedi's possession.
The OC further said there were seven cases pending against arrested Mahedi Hasan. These are related to murder, preparation for committing dacoity, burglary, and mugging. He was sent to the jail custody after suing in a case related to Liquor and Narcotics Control Act.
