Two women, who suffered burn injuries in gas line explosion at a house in Araihazar of Narayanganj on Friday, died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Kaniz Khadija Nipa, 39, a RMG worker, and China Akhter, 40.
Tariqul Islam, a resident doctor at the burn institute, said two women died while being treated at the high dependency unit of the institute around 7:40am and 2pm respectively.
He said four people with critically burn injuries were admitted to the institute on Friday night.
Two other injured are --deceased Nipa's mother Hasina Mumtaz, 55, and China's husband Sohan Talukdar, 45.
Nipa used to live alone at a house in Dighirpar area next to Araihazar College and her mother Hasina went to her on Friday night, said Nipa’s sister Eva Islam.
Besides, Sohan, a worker at a local garment factory, and his wife used to live in the same building.
Fakhruddin, assistant deputy director of Narayanganj Fire Service, said four people were injured in an illegal gas line explosion on the third floor of the building on Friday night.
Being informed, fire fighters and Araihazar police rescued the injured and took them to Araihazar Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were shifted to the burn institute in the capital.
