Thunderbolt kills farmer in Cumilla

A farmer was killed in a lightning strike at Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Md Alam Miah, 56, a resident of Akubpur village in the upazila.
Quoting locals, local UP member Md Salahuddin said a thunderbolt struck Alam at 12 noon while he was collecting grass for his cattle, leaving him dead on the spot.

Bangrabazar Police Station officer-in-charge Riyaz Uddin said he learnt about the death.
