Police recovered the hanging body of a man, who was the headmaster of a high school at Rajoir upazila in Madaripur district, from a residential hotel in the capital on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Manindranath Baroir, 45, a resident of Kotalipara upazila in Gopalganj district. He was the headmaster of Rajoir Girls High School in the upazila.
According to the deceased's family members, Monindranath used to live with his family members in a quarter of the high school. He went to Dhaka on Thursday morning, saying he had some school-related works in the city. In the afternoon, they tried to communicate with him but could not reach him as his phone was found switched off.
Later, about 9.00pm on Thursday night, police informed them that he found dead at a residential hotel in Topkhana Road area of the city.
Shahbagh Police Station sub-inspector Abbas Ali said on information, police recovered the hanging body of the headmaster from a room of the hotel.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
"It was assumed that he might have committed suicide but the actual reason behind the death would be known after autopsy," the SI added.
