Intl conference on ICT for sustainable development begins at BUP
A three-day 2nd international conference on ‘Information and Communication Technology for Sustainable Development’ began at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) in the capital on Thursday.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni inaugurated the conference as the chief guest through video teleconference.
Vice-Chancellor of BUP Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam was present in the ceremony as the chief patron.
The Department of Information and Communication Engineering of BUP organised the conference with a theme ‘Shaping a sustainable future through advancement in information and communication technology’.
A total of 100 papers out of 287 research papers from 15 different countries on ‘Scope of ICT in Healthcare, Education, Business, Agriculture, Industry, and Smart City’ would be presented in the conference.
Dr Kamal Zuhairi bin Zamli, Professor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Malaysia Pahang, Kamal Quadir, CEO bKash Ltd, Yasir Azman, CEO, Grameenphone Ltd, and Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Director, Research and Policy Integration (RAPID) delivered keynote papers in the inaugural ceremony.
BUP military and civil high officials, faculty members, students along with invited guests from home and abroad attended the ceremony.
To foster a congenial environment in exchanging scientific, technical, and engineering ideas amongst academia and industries, this conference has also included an industry exhibition.
The closing ceremony of the international conference will be held on Saturday (September 23).
