IU forms probe body over ragging allegation

The authority of Islamic University (IU) have formed a probe body on Saturday to investigate a ragging allegation of a student of Tourism and Hospitality Management department in the university.

IU acting registrar HM Ali Hasan confirmed the information on Sunday afternoon.

The other members on the committee are- student advisor Prof Dr Shelina Nasrin, law administrator of the university Prof Dr Anisur Rahman, lecturer of finance and banking department Mithun Bairagi, and M Alibuddin Khan, deputy registrar of academic section.

Earlier, a fresher student of Tourism and Hospitality Management department of the university was reportedly tortured and harassed by some students --Mizanur Emon, Akib, and Shuvo, of the same department.

 
The incident came to light after the victim disclosed the matter with his family members.

Later, the victim’s father submitted a complaint over mail to the university's acting registrar last Tuesday and submitted a written complaint on Saturday to the university administration including the university’s proctor, student advisor, and the department chairman seeking punishment for those involved in the incident.
