AL leader Ashraf, 32 others chargesheeted

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police have submitted chargesheet against 33 including Dhaka South Awami League organising secretary Ashraf Talukder in former Motijheel Thana AL general secretary Zahidul Islam Tipu and college girl Samia Afran Preeti murder case.

During the investigation, police found allegation against 34 people to be true. But, as the full identity of one Excel Sohel was not found, a petition for his acquittal has been filed. In this situation, chargesheet against 33 have been submitted.

On Monday (June 5), DB police inspector Yasin Shikder, also the case investigation officer, pressed the chargesheet with Shahjahanpur Police Station. Later, June 15 was fixed for next hearing on the case.

On March 24, 2022, both Tipu and Preeti were killed in indiscriminate firing at Shahjahanpur in the capital.

Slain Tipu was a contractor at different government departments. He was a member of the Motijheel Ideal School and College governing body. Tipu was also the owner of a restaurant where Omar Faruque was Awami League general secretary.

After the incident, slain Tipu's wife Farzana Islam Dolly filed a murder case with Motijheel Police Station. She made unidentified persons accused in the case. Then police arrested the accused at different times.

TF
