Two children drown in Rajshahi pond

Two children drowned in a pond in Hetemkhan area in Rajshahi city on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were Ananta, 6, son of Gobinda, and Nirjhar, 9, son of Niren, residents of Hetemkhan area under Boalia Police Station in the city.
Boalia Police Station officer-in-charge Sohrawardy Hossain said the children drowned while taking a bath in a pond adjacent to Hetemkhan cemetery around 11:30 am.

Locals rescued one dead and one in critical condition. The injured child was taken to the emergency department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
