Police have filed a case against 600 unnamed people for allegedly attacking police from a BNP rally in Chattogram's Bohaddarhat on Sunday.
The case was filed on Monday at the Chandgaon Police Station of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), confirmed officer-in-charge of the police station Khairul Islam, UNB reports.
In the case, names of 36 people including Chattogram Metropolitan BNP convener Dr Shahadat Hossain, member secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar and South district BNP convener Alhaj Abu Sufian, were mentioned.
On Sunday afternoon, BNP leaders and activists took out a procession from the Baklia Access Road area of the city as per the pre-scheduled programme of the metropolitan BNP.
When the procession reached Bohaddarhat area, as the leaders were preparing to give the closing speech, police charged batons to remove them from the road. At this time, the chase counter-chase occurred between BNP men and police. However, no police or BNP activists were injured.
At that time, BNP leaders said there was no attack on the police from their side.
