Child dies as rod falls on him from expressway in city

A child was killed after being hit by a piece of iron rod that fell off from an under-construction elevated expressway at Mohakhali in Dhaka on Monday morning.

The incident happened around 9 am in front of British American Tobacco in Mohakhali.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Witnesses said a piece of rod fell on his head while he was walking under the elevated expressway.

Pedestrians rescued his blood-stained body and took to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He died there while undergoing treatment.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter.
