Actor Mahi sent to jail in DSA case |
 Actor Mahiya Mahi being taken to jail from a court in Dhaka after a petition to place her on a seven-day remand was rejected. Actor Mahiya Mahi, who was arrested earlier from Dhaka airport, has been ordered to send to jail in a Digital Security Act (DSA) case. Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Iqbal Hossain ordered police to send her to jail on Saturday afternoon rejecting a seven-day remand petition of police. The actor was produced before the court by Gazipur Metropolitan Police after her arrest. Police pleaded to place her on a seven-day remand. Around 11:45am, police picked up Mahi from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka immediately after her she return from Saudi Arabia where she went to perform Umrah. She went there with her husband Rakib Sarkar. But Rakib, who is the joint general secretary of Awami League's Bason unit in Gazipur, did not return home. Earlier on Friday night, two cases were filed against the popular film actress and her husband for defaming police during a Facebook live and alleged involvement in extortion and assaulting a businessman.
