![]() Parents, son get life term in Cox's Bazar murder case A couple and their son have been sentenced to life term imprisonment for killing a man at Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar in 2019. Cox's Bazar Additional District and Sessions Judge Nishat Sultana handed down the verdict on Wednesday. The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, they will have to suffer one year more in jail. The convicts are Md Manjur, a resident of Uttar Shilkhali area under Baharchhara union of the upazila, his wife Amina Khatun and son Forkan. Faridul Alam, public prosecutor (PP) of the court, confirmed the matter. According to the prosecution, on August 27, 2019, the convicts hacked victim Abdul Karim at his home in Uttar Shilkhali area due to previous enmity and fled away. Later, locals rescued Abdul Karim and took to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries the next day. On August 29, 2019, the victim's wife Khursida Begum filed a case with Teknaf Police Station as the plaintiff accusing Forkan, his father Manjur and mother Amina Khatun. After the investigation, police submitted a charge sheet against the accused to the court on October 17, 2021. The court delivered the verdict after taking depositions of the witnesses. SR |
