Man arrested 'on charge of killing pregnant wife' in C'nawabganj
Police on Saturday arrested a man on the charge of killing his seven-month pregnant wife at Rahanpur upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
Earlier on Friday night, police recovered the body of Eliza, 20, from her husband Akher Ali's house in the municipal area. The couple got married two years ago.
Rahanpur Police Investigation Center in-charge Nazmul Haque said the Eliza was taken to the upazila health complex by her in-laws on Friday afternoon as she fell sick. There she was declared dead by the on-duty doctors. During the treatment at the hospital, the family members told the doctor that she was electrocuted.
Meanwhile, police came to know from the neighbors that the family of arrested Akher Ali, 25, found Eliza in a hanging condition and, later, took her to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Gomastapur Police Station officer in-charge Mahbubur Rahman said a murder case was filed with the police station by the victim's uncle.
Following the case, Akher Ali was arrested.
