Man drowns in river in Kurigram

A man drowned in the Brahmaputra river at Rajibpur upazila in Kurigram district on Monday morning.

The dead was Salim Uddin, 50, a resident of Dhakaiapara village under Dewanganj upazila in Jamalpur district.

It was learnt that the man drowned while he was trying to cross the river by swimming to return house after working in a paddy field as there were no boats.

On information, members of fire service and civil defence recovered the body after five hours.

Rajibpur Police Station officers-in-charge Mojaharul Islam confirmed the matter.
