Snake bite kills child in Cox's Bazar

A minor child was killed after being bitten by a snake at Pekua upazila in Cox's Bazar district on Wednesday night.

The deceased was Sadek Muhammad Jihan, 4, son of Salahuddin, a resident of Mehernama Nandirpara area of the upazila.

It was learnt that a poisonous snake bit Jihan while playing in the backyard in the evening.

Family members rescued him and rushed to Pekua Upazila Health Complex. Later, When they were known that there was no snakebite treatment or vaccine in the hospital, they took the child to Chakaria Hospital where the on duty doctor declared him dead at around 9 pm.
