Youth held with yaba worth Tk 10 lakh from bus in Feni
A youth has been arrested with 2,000 yaba tablets from Lalpol at Feni Sadar by the Liquor and Narcotics Department.
Saiful Islam was arrested from on board a bus in front of Amanat Hotel and Restaurant on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Lalpol in Feni district early Wednesday (October 5) afternoon.
The market value of seized yaba pills is about Tk 10 lakh.
Yaba is a powerful and addictive stimulant.
Arrested 23-year-old Saiful Islam, son of Abdus Salam, hails from village Bheola Manikchar at Nayapara Betua Bazar area under Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar district.
Acting on a tip-off, the Liquor and Narcotics Department learnt that yaba smuggler was coming from Cox's Bazar by a bus belonging to Hanif Paribahan. Then the offcials of the Liquor and Narcotics Department intercepted the bus right on the road in front of Amanat Hotel and Restaurant on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Lalpol on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
During the search, they arrested bus passenger Saiful Islam and found 2,000 yaba pills in a packet wrapped with scotch-tape and tissue paper.
Later, inspector Md Mozammel Huq of the Liquor and Narcotics Department, filed a case with Feni Model Police Station against Saiful under the Drug Control Act 2018.
Feni Model Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Md Nizam Uddin said arrested Saiful Islam would be sent to jail through court.
