Wife dies drinking husband's poison-laced milk

Abdus Salam had a love affair with maternal cousin Shirin. At one stage, he married Smrity as relation between them deteriorated. But, he again got involved developed extramarital love affair with Shirin just after nine months of his marriage.

As the wife had become an obstacle, Abdus Salam planned to remove his wife from the world. He offered a glass of milk to his wife mixing it with poison. Immediately after drinking the poison laced milk, Smrity died.
Following the death of housewife Smrity at a house at West Nakhalpara area under Tejgaon Police Station, law enforcers learnt it after arresting and questioning both husband Salam and his lover Shirin.

The duo was arrested from Godagari in Rajshahi and Tejgaon industrial area in the capital on Monday night. In order to tell the details about their relationship, DMP's Tejgaon Division's deputy police commissioner (DC) HM Azimul Huque convened a press conference at his office in Shyamoli early Tuesday afternoon. He disclosed the mystery behind Smrity's death at the press conference.

Azimul Huque said Salam offered poison-laced milk to his wife mainly to get his lover Shirin. They were arrested within just 12 hours after the incident.

He further said Salam and Smrity married each other nine months ago. Both of them hail from Raipura upazila in Narsingdi district. Cousin brother Abdus Salam had a love affair with Shirin before his marriage. At one stage, their relationship got strained and Salam married Smrity.

After several months, Salam and Shirin developed extramarital love affair. Both Salam and Shirin used to work at a biscuit factory. Salam planned to remove his wife from this world in order to get his lover Shirin.

As per the plan, Salam brought two bottles of milk and then mixed poison with it. He then offered the milk to Smrity and left the home.

Since Smrity fell sick drinking poison-laced milk, his father and Salam's sister-in-law Nazma rushed her to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital and admitted her there. Smrity died while underwent treatment there.
