Bangladesh National Women Cricket team members have returned home after lifting the title at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022 after beating Ireland by seven runs in a thrilling final on Sunday (September 26).
However, both teams have already qualified to play in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa next year.
The Bangladesh team led by Nigar Sultana lifted the trophy beating Ireland at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The plane carrying the Bangladesh cricket team members touched Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport runway at 9:00am on Tuesday. On completion of immigration formalities, the champions came outside the airport where Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) greeted them offering bouquets of flower.
Captain Nigar Sultana also spoke at a crowded press conference there.
The ICC Women's T20 World Cup will be held in South Africa in February next year. Eight teams are qualified to take part in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup directly on the basis of rankings. Both Bangladesh and Ireland have already been qualified to play in the World Cup.
Bangladesh women cricketers don't have time in hands to take enough rest. They will have to start practice for the Women's Asia Cup T20 mission. The curtain of Asia Cup will be raised through the match between Bangladesh and Thailand at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on October 1. It may be mentioned that Bangladesh have just got the ticket to take part in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup beating Thailand in semi-final at Dubai.
Bangladesh are the existing champions of Asia Cup. This year's Asia Cup will be participated by Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malayasia and the United Arab Emirates.
