The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has paid compensation to three women footballers whose money, phones and other valuables went missing from their luggage when they were returning to the BFF building from Dhaka airport.
The BFF promised to pay compensation if three women footballers -- Krishna Rani Sarker, Sanjida Akter and Shamsunnahar Senior -- would not get back their missing foreign currencies, phones and valuables.
The BFF Women Football Committee's chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron on Saturday handed them back their money and phones at her own initiatives.
After winning SAFF Championship trophy in Nepal, Krishna, Sanjida and Shamsunnahar faced an undesirable situation on their return to the country. Krishna and Sanjida lost US$900 and Tk 50,000 respectively from their luggage at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, while Shamsunnahar's US$400 went missing. Sanjida's dollars were in Krishna's luggage. Sanjida had a dream of buying an iPhone spending that money.
The BFF also lodged a general diary with Motijheel and Biman Bandar police stations over the stolen of dollars. Inspite of it, the BFF didn't get the money back. Then it announced to provide compensation. On Saturday, the money of the compensation was handed over to the three footballers.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin said Mahfuza Akter Kiron herself paid the entire amount of compensation.
Three footballers received more than the amount they had lost. Sanjida was given an iPhone. Shamsunnahar received Tk 1 lakh. They were satisfied after receiving the compensation.
