Awami League leader stabbed dead in Dhaka

An Awami Legaue leader was stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Jatrabari on Tuesday night.
The deceased is Abu Bakar Siddique Habu, 38, son of Muhammad Ali, a resident of Damudya Police Station area in Shariatpur.
He was president of Ward No 50 of Dhaka South City Awami League.
The incident took place around 7.00 pm on Shahid Faruque Road in Jatrabari Police Station area.
Abu Bakar was rescued and took to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) hospital where the on duty-doctor declared him dead around 8:30 pm.
Md. Mithu, cousin of the deceased, said, “Some people, including Fahim, stabbed Abu Bakar on the road while he going to his house, leaving him critically injured.”
Later, he was rescued and taken to DMCH where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
DMCH police outpost in-charge (inspector) Md Bachchu Mia said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
