LDA calls half-day hartal on August 25

Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a platform of seven left leaning parties, has called countrywide half-day strike on August 25 (Thursday), in protest against prices hike of fuel oils and urea fertiliser, raise of transport fares.

Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a platform of seven left leaning parties, has called countrywide half-day strike on August 25 (Thursday), in protest against prices hike of fuel oils and urea fertiliser, raise of transport fares.

LDA convener and United Communist League general secretary Abdus Satter announced the hartal on Tuesday at the following their march towards the prime minister's office at Shahbagh intersection, where police stopped them with barbed-wire fences at 12 noon.
Coordinator of Nine Left Parties, Zafar Ahmed, said they would hold parallel programmes with LDA on August 25.

Earlier on March 28, the LDA enforced countrywide half-day hartal protesting against the increase of gas price.
