Teen boy drowns in city lake

A teenage boy drowned in a lake in the capital's Uttara on Wednesday afternoon.

Deceased Taosif Rahim, 15, was the son of Mosharof Hossain Bulu hailed from Noakhali Sadar upazia. He lived with his family in a rented house in Uttara Sector No 3 area.

Locals said Taosif suddenly slipped into Uttra Lake water while he and his friends were chatting on the bank of the lake around 2:30 pm.

Hearing his friends' screams, locals rushed to the spot and started a search for him.

After searching, they rescued Taosif after one hour and took him to a hospital.

He was declared dead at the hospital on arrival.

Uttara West Police Station inspector said they recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue.
