A Bangladeshi woman receives oral cholera vaccine


Oral cholera vaccine will be administered on Sunday (June 26) in five areas of capital Dhaka.

International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) will administer the cholera vaccine.

In the first phase, the campaign will be conducted in five areas of the capital--Jatrabari, Mohammadpur, Sabujbag, Dakshinkhan and Mirpur.

The oral vaccine will be given to all people aged above one year.

The second dosage of vaccine will be administered after 14 days.

The government will administer the two-dose vaccines to 23 lakh people in five diarrhoea-prone areas in the capital.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is providing fund to buy and administer oral cholera vaccine, while icddr,b is implementing it.
