All kinds of spice prices rise in Hili

The prices of all kinds of spices have increased in a week at Hili port in Dinajpur district. Traders claim that the rise in the value of the dollar has pushed up the prices of all types of spices.

It has been seen that packaged cumin is being sold at 390 to 410 Tk per kg. And open cumin 380 Tk. Even a week ago, the packaged goods were sold at Tk 340 and the open ones at Tk 330.

Meanwhile, black cardamom used to be 940 now 1010 and white cardamom 1700 is now being sold at 1800 to 1850 Tk. Clove used to be sold for Tk 1,000 but now it is being sold for Tk 1,070.

Aslam Ali, who came to the market to buy spices, said ''The price of each spice has gone up. Some people say that the value of dollar is higher and some say it has increased unnecessarily. Who do I blame?''

Van driver Asad said, ''We poor people don’t understand dollars. When the price goes down, we can buy these.''

Azad Ali, a spice trader in Hili Bazaar, told that the recent rise in the value of the dollar has had an impact on the market. As a result, prices of almost all essential commodities have gone up.
